Synopsis

KRUPNICZA STREET: WHERE MUSES RESIDE

Since the 19th century, Krupnicza Street was frequented by numerous writers, painters, musicians and other cultural celebrities. It is without a doubt one of Kraków’s best known literary sites, along with Gołębia Street (where the Jagiellonian University’s Polish Studies faculty is located) and Bracka Street (with its Nowa Prowincja literary cafe). Krupnicza, however, differs from other sites, being unique due to countless writers who came to live there. This article retraces their steps, especially at 22 Krupnicza Street, where the House of the Union of Polish Writers was located.
