Synopsis

REINHART KOSELLECK’S THEORY OF «TURNING POINTS»: POSSIBLE APPLICATION IN THE STUDY OF RUSSIAN HISTORY OF THE XVIII CENTURY

The article considers the problem of historical time in historical works by the philosopher R. Koselleck. He is the author of a distinctive direction in historiographywhich is named  conceptual history. Koselleck and his colleagues from Bielefeld University compiled A Historical Dictionary of Political and Social Language, in which they analysed and included more than 300 main historical concepts. The central theme in Koselleck’s works is a turning point in history. A turning point is a short period of time when the lexicon and political vocabulary acquire and develop new concepts. The meaning behind them is associated with expectations of future changes in society.
