Synopsis

MIKHAIL MURAVIOV’S POEM A NIGHT – TEXT AND CONTEXTS

The paper consists of three parts: 1. Presentation of the historical background of writing and publication of the poem A Night (1776, 1785?, ed. 1819) by Mikhail Muraviov (1757-1807), its connections with the literary movements (sentimentalism, pre-romanticism, romanticism) and a place in the author’s literary output, Russian (A. Kantemir, M. Lomonosov) and European (E. Young) poetry; 2. Analysis and interpretation of the poem A Night (image of the nature and a human, dynamics of the events); 3. Presentation of the role of a night in Muraviov’s concept of time (passing of the nature and a human, value of each moment).
