THE IMPACT OF THE OCTOBER REVOLUTION ON RUSSIAN-SERB (SOVIET-YUGOSLAV) RELATIONS

This article investigates the history of contacts of Russians with the Balkans, in particular Serbia and Republika Srpska (RS) and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The author explores relations between both nations during the period of the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation, especially the conflicts in mutual relations after the Revolution of 1917, and after the Second World War, between Tito and Stalin. This paper presents the long-term effects of the October Revolution on these relations and the history of both nations. Moreover, it demonstrates the contemporary Russian attitude and the country’s influence in Serbia and RS.
