CRICOTEKA – THE NAME IS A COMBINATION OF ‘CRICOT’ (FROM THE CRICOT THEATRE) AND THE WORD ‘TEKA’, WHICH DERIVES FROM THE ANCIENT GREEK ‘THEKE’ AND MEANS ‘A PLACE OF STORAGE’
The article is a commemorative tribute to Professor Krzysztof Pleśniarowicz, highlighting his significant contributions to the preservation and popularization of Tadeusz Kantor’s artistic legacy. The author, current director of Cricoteka, reflects on the history of the institution, emphasizing Pleśniarowicz’s role as its former director (1994-2000), a scholar, and a mentor. The text recalls key milestones, such as obtaining the legal title to Kantor’s Gallery-Studio at Sienna 7 and organizing major international exhibitions.
