Tłumaczenie snu, tłumaczenie ciała. O Vision I Alberta Samaina i Lwicy Kazimiery Zawistowskiej .......... 133
Synopsis
TRANSLATION OF A DREAM, TRANSLATION OF A BODY. OF VISION I BY ALBERT SAMAIN AND LWICA BY KAZIMIERA ZAWISTOWSKA
The theme of this essay focuses on the analysis of the similarities between the work of Samain (both the French version and the translation done by Zawistowska) and, comparable in topic and imagery, poem Lwica. The aforementioned analysis centers around both authors’ different descriptions and characteristic features of the human (female and male) body. Much of the article is dedicated towards noting the significant interference of Zawistowska into the Polish translation of Vision I. The juxtaposition of the poems makes it possible to distinguish the differences in the writers’ perceptions of the woman and man’s roles in the society. It also highlights the fact that Lwica is a specific quasi response to the French symbolist’s poem. These reflections are supplemented with the study on the contrast in the defined function of the onirism in Vision I and its absence in Lwica.
