HOW TO BECOME ORTHODOX (ON THE BASIS OF CONTENTS OF ST. PETER MOHYLA’S TREBNIK)

The first part of this article, based on contents of St. Peter Mohyla’s Trebnik (Euchologion), presents the rites of baptism, confirmation, and the churching of infants born in Orthodox families as well as adults who did not profess another religion before baptism, indicating some differences from the modern practice. The second part deals with the rites of embracing the Orthodoxy by Jews, Muslims and heretics (Western Christians) developed by Metropolitan Peter on the basis of a manuscript and early printed Greek-Slavic texts.
