GRAMMATICAL ERRORS IN WRITTEN POLISH MADE BY UKRAINIAN-SPEAKING STUDENTS – A LAPSOLOGICAL CORPUS STUDY
The article presents the research on grammatical errors made by Ukrainian-speaking students learning Polish as a foreign language. The analyses constitute an example of a lap-sological corpus study. Their aim is to characterise inflection and grammatical errors excerpted from written assignments produced by Ukrainian learners. The knowledge of errors – their quality and quantity – allows for stating the parts of Polish grammar which are the most difficult for this group of learners and, subsequently, designing teaching aids and techniques which take into account the students’ particular needs. The results of the research – especially the number of interference errors – lead to an unambiguous conclusion – the need to teach Polish to Ukrainians in the contrast of their first language.
