Synopsis

GRAPHIC ERRORS IN THE WRITTEN WORKS OF GERMAN STUDENTS LEARNING POLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH

The purpose of this article is to present a quantitative approach to the description of phenomena related to Polish graphics present in the written works of foreign students learning Polish  as  a foreign language.  Based  on  the  material  collected  from  37  students  from  Germany, an analysis of the way the letters of the Polish alphabet were written, as well as letter connections characteristic for Polish was conducted. The results of the analysis were used to create a profile of graphics errors characterizing this language group, i.e. a list of modifications present in the works of the largest number of students. The article emphasizes the importance of conducting further quantitative research based on the written works of students representing other language groups. The research results are important for the design of teaching activities and the adaptation of teaching materials.
