TRANSFORMATIONS OF THE LANGUAGE OF THE CONTEMPORARY POLISH YOUTH IN THE LIGHT OF ANNA CIEPLAK‘S NOVELS: MA BYĆ CZYSTO (I SAID CLEAN) AND LATA POWYŻEJ ZERA (YEARS ABOVE ZERO)

The aim of the article is to demonstrate major tendencies and developments in the vocabulary and style of the language used by the contemporary Polish youth on a daily basis, documented in the two novels by Anna Cieplak. First of all, it is the internationalization and expanding of vocabulary resources as a result of the pressure exerted by the popular culture and the broad impact of the Internet. This leads to a number of cultural and linguistic phenomena: strengthening of the role of English as an international language, economisation of linguistic means, and increasing expressiveness of the language, e.g. growing prevalence of vulgarity and brutality.
