POLISH CULTURAL GLOTTODIDACTICS AND BLUE HUMANITIES: THE EXAMPLE OF THE HYDRONYM VISTULA
The aim of the article is to highlight the presence of the Vistula River in selected textbooks for teaching Polish as a foreign language in light of contemporary methodologies for describing the relationship between humans and nature. The primary research tools used in analyzing textbook content include cultural linguistics and blue humanities. The starting point is the introduction of concepts such as culturemes, lexiculture, and linguaculture, which are essential elements in the effective process of teaching any foreign language. Subsequently, the article analyzes the content of selected textbooks for teaching Polish as a foreign language, examining the contexts in which the hydronym Vistula, considered a cultureme, appears, as well as the results of surveys conducted among students learning Polish as a foreign language. The analyses lead to the conclusion that the way the river is presented in the discussed textbooks aligns with the traditional, anthropocentric model of narration about the river, suggesting new possibilities for representing the river in the cultural teaching Polish as a foreign language.
