SET OF TERRITORIAL COATS OF ARMS IN THE COURT CHAMBER IN POZNAN CITY HALL

The article describes and identifi es the set of coats of arms painted in the former Court Chamber of Poznan City Hall and discusses its ideological agenda. The set consists of ten coats of arms and was painted in 1861–1862. The signifi cance of the coats of arms is closely related to the entire decor of the chamber, especially the wall images of the rulers of Wielkopolska: Bolesław the Pious and Przemysł I, repainted as Przemysł II, a statue of King Stanisław August, and the coat of arms of Poznan, painted on the ceiling vault of the chamber.
