Streszczenie

THE CHALLENGE OF THE “REBORN ITALY” AFTER UNIFICATION: STABILITY, DEVELOPMENT, INCLUSION

The essay addresses the political dynamics that characterized the post-war period of 1866. From that point on, once the Kingdom of Italy’s emergency phase had been left behind, a rivalry arose between new political perspectives and the resistance of traditional liberal currents. After the turning point of 1873, the political rivalry emerged to determine the transformation of the parties necessary for a policy of reform and to pacify internal conflicts within the state. This was the challenge of Agostino Depretis’ transformismo: through the transformation of the parties, economic development, and socio-political inclusion, Depretis was able to guide the political processes necessary for the “resurrected Italy” beyond the institutional emergency.
