THE CORRESPONDENCE OF JADWIGA MROZOWSKA TOEPLITZ TO ANTONI WAŚKOWSKI: SELECTED LETTERS
The Krakow Museum’s Academic Library and Archives house a collection of correspondence between actress Jadwiga Mrozowska-Toeplitz and Antoni Waśkowski. It was donated by the painter’s wife, Jadwiga, a year after her husband’s death. Most of these letters, written after the end of World War II, are personal in nature. However, they also contain information about work on the actress’s autobiography, articles for the London “Wiadomości,” and plans for her return to Poland. Consequently, this correspondence constitutes an interesting resource for biographical research on both Mrozowska and Waśkowski. This article includes an edited selection of these letters dating from 1957 to 1965.
