PEGASUS AND CAMENAE BEFORE THE MIRACULOUS IMAGE OF MARY AT THE PIASEK CARMELITE CHURCH
The article presents and discusses The sacrifice poem for the Blessed Virgin Mary at the Piasek Carmelite church in Krakow by Wojciech Stanisław Chróściński. The late-Baroque piece is part of the tradition of Marian devotion, developed and maintained at Piasek Carmelite church in Krakow. The poem is related to the miraculous image of the Virgin Mary, the place of pilgrimage for the inhabitants of Krakow as well as the rulers of Poland. The analysis of the text illuminates its religious and poetic context, and also highlights the relationship of the painting and the poem accompanying it to a specific place in the city space.
