Synopsis

IMPRISONMENT’S TEXTS OF I.P. YUVACHEV: PECULIARITIES OF PERCEPTION AND REPRESENTATIONS OF TIME

After being one of the active participant in the group People’s Will as a young man I. P. Yuvachev spent his days in prisons with hard labour for more than 12 years. The letters to family, diaries of Sakhalin period and memoirs about Schlisselburg and Sakhalin are utilized to examine the author and his ideas. We can see a clear difference between an ‘event-driven’ time perspective and a retrospective reproduce of events when comparing the memoirs and his personal documents of the same time. Yuvachev reconstructed ‘event-driven’ time when describing everyday life. In opposite, the personal documents (letters and diaries) provide insight into more complicated perception of the time which is reflected in the various forms of its representation.
