LITERATURE, BILDUNG, IMAGINATION. A COUPLE OF THOUGHTS ON THE LITERATURE OF THE MODERN ERA

This paper is a brief analysis of a turning point in the history of literature that gave rise to a new understanding of the relationships between literature, philosophy and culture. At this point, which can be called the birth of modern literature, literature becomes both a crucial insight into rapidly changing social reality and a paradigm for critical thinking centred around the notion of transient and malleable character in this reality. In other words, literature becomes a crucial element of modern philosophy of culture, engaging the topic of “historical ontology of ourselves”.
