It outlines the philosophical and historical foundations of the notion of “national rebirth” and its role in shaping both nations’ struggles for independence and identity. Serving as an introduction for the reader, it presents the logic of the ten chapters that follow, which approach the Risorgimento from historical, political, and cultural perspectives, emphasizing its enduring significance as a shared moral and civic heritage of Poland and Italy.
