TH E FOREIGN COMMUNICATIONS BASE OF THE ZWZ “BOLEK” IN BUCHAREST (DECEMBER 1939-NOVEMBER 1940). ASPECTS OF COURIER SERVICE
The article aims to analyze the initial period of operation of the “Bolek” base in Bucharest, whose primary task was to ensure communication between the command of the Polish Underground (commanders of four areas – Lviv, Krakow, Warsaw, Białystok) and Polish state institutions located outside the country (Paris, London). The author discusses the organization and scope of the base’s activities, focusing in particular on the analysis of courier activities – the organization of courier routes, the couriers themselves, and the difficulties associated with the tasks entrusted to them. The research was based on documents held by the Polish Underground Movement Study Trust in London.
