FOSTERING READING HABITS AMONG YOUNG READERS: AN OVERVIEW OF INITIATIVES AT THE A. PARCZEWSKI PEDAGOGICAL LIBRARY IN KALISZ

Supporting reading habits among the younger generation is a vital element in shaping the cultural, linguistic, and social competencies of children and adolescents. Pedagogical libraries, as educational institutions, play a key role in promoting literature and nurturing an interest in reading. The A. Parczewski Pedagogical Library in Kalisz implements numerous initiatives targeting young audiences, including primary and secondary school students, as well as their teachers. This article presents an overview of activities carried out by the library, such as literary contests, workshops, author visits, educational projects, and public campaigns promoting books and reading. The analysis of these initiatives highlights the role of the teacher-librarian as an active promoter of reading, supporting both the persuit of individual passions among young people and the cultivation of a reading culture within the local community.
