THE WUNDT PARADOX. AN ESSAY ABOUT THE PHILOSOPHY AND PSYCHOLOGY
OF THE CREATOR OF THE FIRST LABORATORY FOR EXPERIMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY

The article briefly compares two common accounts of Wilhelm Wundt’s psychology – according to the representations closer to his pupil’s Edward Titchener’s views and according to those closer to Wundt’s own vision. It seems that a key aspect of the differences between Titchener’s and Wundt’s psychologies is that they stem from different answers to basic ontological and epistemological questions and related problems in the philosophy of science. Wundt’s program of cultural psychology is also very briefly described.
