Synopsis
THE DREAM THEME IN KAZIMIERA ZAWISTOWSKA’S EROTICA. BASED ON SELECTED POEMS
The following article refers to the role of the dream in Kazimiera Zawistowska’s poems such as: [I used to love you…] ([Kochałam ciebie…]), [You were a shadow to me…] ([Cieniem byłeś ty dla mnie…]), Eve (Ewa) and The tapestry queens II (Królowe z gobelinu II). There, dream appears as death, time for rest and worship, unstable sinful pleasure, desire, beautiful remembrance and imperfect reflection. The author uses dream’s ambiguity and axiological ambivalence which can be perfectly seen in culture and which are encoded in language. The discussed motif has also a mood-forming function.
