A SPACE OF THE SOLACE OR A NIGHTMARE. ON DREAMS, VISIONS, PHANTASMAGORIAS IN
THE PROSE POEMS OF MARYLA WOLSKA FROM THE VOLUME THÈME VARIÉ

This article is an interpretation of how the oneiric convention is created in Maryla Wolska’s prose poems from the cycle Thème Varié. The analysis of the elements of the poetic imagination allows showing how the poet creates the atmosphere of a nightmare. Wolska uses the melancholic dominant which destroys an apparent calm. In the article three important elements are pointed out: the space, the ghostly man-character and the emotions of the narrator. The last part of the article consists of the analysis of the prose poem Od proga which presents autothematic motives.
