“CONTRASTS” OF DREAMS OF THE FORGOTTEN POET LOLA SZERESZEWSKA

The text aims to bring the work of the rather little known (insufficiently researched and forgotten) Jewish poet Lola Szereszewska in the context of her first collection of stories. “Contrasts” is a volume of poetic prose published during the Young Poland period, extremely mature and surprising for the poet’s age – she published it at the age of twenty-two. The poet multiplies the contrasts by building mobile relationships between given periods of time, time and space, dream and reality, and manipulates our perceptions of these elements. The oneiric threads become an interpretive lens that allows to better outline the poetic world created by Szereszewska.
