Synopsis

CHAOS OF TIME – TIME OF CHAOS. FUNCTION AND MEANING OF TIME IN A CONTEMPORARY RUSSIAN DRAMATURGY

The article presents the influence of post-modern perception of time on a shape and content of pieces of work of chosen Russian dramatists (O. Bogayev, N. Kolyada, V. Sigarev, Y. Klavdev, O. Beresneva). According to post-modern theory, reality is presented as a chaos deprived of permanent values, norms and principles. Time became an independent factor exposed to change and manipulation. The newest Russian dramaturgy presents the situation of humanity lost in chaos in two ways. On the one hand, it focuses on a spiritual standing of a contemporary human, their fears and attempts to find sense of life. It shows atomization of post-modern societies, human alienation, lack of deeper interpersonal tights and unreadiness of being to keep up with temporal epoch changes. On the other hand, the structure of post-modern dramas, non-linearity, deconstruction and repetitiveness of scenes confirms the chaotic presentation of contemporariness. In this context, chaos presented in the pieces of work has an axiological and ethical meaning.
