THE IMPORTANCE OF SENSUAL EXPERIENCES IN SHAPING REGIONAL IDENTITY

The author of the article discusses the importance and a range of possibilities of the use of sensual experiences in shaping regional identity and community in regionalism in Polish studies. She highlights the potential of such a perspective, which has been explored by scholars who represent new theories and tendencies in the humanities (e.g. cultural theory of literature, the poetics of experience, geopoetics, pre-textual ethnographies). This theoretical background enables the author to expand the scope of regional education and to broaden this discipline to include the sensual dimension. The author also emphasizes the urgent need to prepare the teachers-to-be to use these findings in their school practice.
