Synopsis
A TASK-BASED CURRICULUM SUPPORTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE
The aim of the article is to discuss a task-based curriculum supporting the development of intercultural communicative competence. The theoretical superstructure of the proposed practical teaching solutions is: the concept of a task in the light of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, the goals and components of teaching in the concept of Michael Byram and the forms of work of intercultural training in language education. The creation of the program was preceded by research activities aimed at determining the group’s needs. The implementation of the original program was accompanied by a study aimed at checking the effectiveness of tasks in the integrated development of language competences and intercultural communicative competence (ICC). The program description includes: topics, teaching objectives, ICC levels, teaching materials, teaching techniques and planned main tasks and their results. The article also presents the students’ opinions about the implemented program.
