Synopsis

JOHN LOCKE ON MORAL OBLIGATIONS

The article attempts to present an interpretation of John locke’s philosophy – as expressed by him both in An Essay Concerning Human Understanding (1689) and in his other works and texts – according to which it deals with the theory of obligations as much as with the issues of cognition, power, religion or education. This theory of obligations has a practical dimension, that is, it is meant to help the reader of locke in fulfilling their obligations. I am considering the main difficulties a follower of such an interpretation faces.
