PROFESSIONALIZING THE EDUCATION OF POLISH AS FOREIGN AND SECOND LANGUAGE TEACHERS: DIDACTIC-METHODICAL COMPETENCES AND AWARENESS OF PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AMONG REFLECTIVE PRACTITIONERS

The dissertation Professionalizing the Education of Polish as Foreign and Second Language Teachers: Didactic-Methodical Competences and Awareness of Personal Development among Reflective Practitioners is a contribution to the discussion and scholarly reflection on the evolution of Polish language glottodidactics and, in particular, Polish language pedeutology, which is an important element determining further directions of development for the whole space of learning and teaching Polish as a foreign and second language. With the growing interest of foreigners in the Polish language, as well as with the socio-economic and cultural changes in the world, the teaching of foreign languages attracts an increasing amount of attention. In the research perspective, the representation of the course of language education has become crucial, and research usually focuses on the main actors of the glottodiadatic process: the teacher and the learner (Grucza 1978; Lewandowski 1985; Woźniewicz 1987; Pfeiffer 2001; Gębal 2008c). The present dissertation centers research on the awareness and development of the didactic and methodological competence of teachers as the key skills that constitute the teaching practice of novice teachers, and facilitate their entry into the profession.
