AN ENERGY-FILLED LIBRARY: FOSTERING A PASSION FOR READING AMONG YOUNG ATHLETES: READING INITIATIVES
IN A PRIMARY SCHOOL
This article aims to present a variety of initiatives promoting reading among the students of the Janusz Kusociński Primary School No. 91 in Krakow, an institution with a specialized sports profile. The author highlights the critical importance of collaboration between the school librarian and the rest of the teaching faculty. The paper identifies school competitions and thematic gatherings in the school library as the two predominant forms of reading promotion. It also outlines other significant activities, including participation in nationwide programs, the organization of school-wide projects, and workshops conducted by literary professionals. The author emphasizes that such initiatives must be diverse in format and tailored to the students’ intellectual capacities and skill levels, ensuring that all student efforts are appropriately exhibited and rewarded. Furthermore, the paper draws attention to the value of promoting a culture of reading among preschool children, as well as among the parents and legal guardians of the students attending Primary School No. 91.
