Synopsis

EVERY DAY BRINGS ITS GIFTS: READING JAPAN

This article offers a reflection on the role of Japanese literature in enhancing teachers’ pedagogical practice and intercultural competencies. Drawing on her personal experience, the author discusses selected titles utilized in educational and bibliotherapeutic work. These literary works—including The Travelling Cat Chronicles, Before the Coffee Gets Cold, and The Cat Who Saved Books—foster the development of empathy, critical thinking, and sensitivity. The article encourages the exploration of Japanese culture through literature and educational initiatives, in the spirit of the adage: “Every day brings its gifts.”
