Synopsis

JOURNEYS TO KRAKOW IN THE INTER-WAR PERIOD IN THE LIGHT OF AXIOLOGY

Krakow has a centuries-old tradition as a tourist destination. When Poland regained its independence, the city became one of the most important tourist centres in the country. During in the interwar period Krakow began to attract an increasing number of tourists from abroad. It offered a wide range of attractions to visitors including magnificent monuments and museums exhibiting Poland’s rich history, theatre performances, concerts and sporting events. While travelling to the city, visitors pursued different values, especially cognitive, aesthetic, patriotic, sacred (religious) and ludic ones, which were described in the present article.
