BEING AND THE HIGHEST MEANING: LOGOLOGICAL REFLECTIONS
In the present work, I consider the problem of the meaningfulness of existence as such, and in particular, human existence. To summarize in the most general terms: I have come to the conclusion that the meaningfulness of the entire realm of being manifests itself as the possibility for rational beings endowed with free will to realize autotelic (“perfect”) values, which are grounded in absolute existence – in a personal God as the guarantor of the highest and ultimate meaningfulness of all existence. To a large extent, this book is a polemic against attempts at a purely humanistic (anthropocentric) and naturalistic justification of the meaning of existence, conducted from the perspective of Christian thought (religion, theology, and philosophy). Since many of the findings presented here (though not all, nor even the majority) are based on religious beliefs, and since this book is not intended to be confessional in nature, these findings should be treated as conditional truths. In these cases, the point is to draw logical conclusions from Christian thought (religion and theology).
