LINGUISTIC AND CULTURAL CHANGES IN THE POLISH COUNTRYSIDE. OBSERVATIONS FROM STUDENT DIALECTOLOGY CAMPS ORGANIZED IN THE PODTATRZE (SUB-TATRA) REGION

The article contains general statements regarding changes in the dialect and folk culture of the Podtatrze (Sub-Tatra) Region (Orava, Podhale, Spiš). The observations included here were made during dialectological trips organized by the Dialectology Section of the Mieczysław Karaś Students’ Linguistics Club of the Jagiellonian University. The cited examples show deep and irreversible changes that are taking place in the dialect and folk culture. However, on this basis we cannot talk about the disappearance of dialect and culture, but rather about their evolution.
