THE WINDOW ON THE PAST. OUTLINES ON THE VISUAL HISTORY, VOL. 2
The submitted collective volume continues a publication Okno na przeszłość. Szkice z historii wizualnej [The Window on the Past. Outlines on the Visual History], prepared in 2014 and edited by Dorota Skotarczak. It is also another volume of a publishing series Historia w Mediach [Historia in Media]. In this context our work establishes some reference to a book Film a historia. Szkice z dziejów wizualnych [Film and History. Outlines on the Visual History] (2019). We divided contents of this volume into two parts: photography and film. All of the presented studies were made according to methodology of the visual history and most of them constitute interdisciplinary analyses. The authors prove that from a perspective of the visual history one can scrutinise very different issues. The content layout and proportions of particular parts of the volume do not reflect the whole spectrum of definitions and understanding of the visual history, and they do not represent all views or perspectives currently dominant in Poland.
