Polityka wobec „etycznej irracjonalności świata” .......... 49
Synopsis
POLITICS VERSUS „ETHICAL IRRATIONALITY OF THE WORLD”
How politics and ethics are related to each other? Is politics subject to jurisdiction of universal ethical norms (as derived from Christianity, for instance) or does it have its own purpose? Should politicians act in accordance with their beliefs or be guided by the results of their actions? Max Weber tries to answer these questions in his essay Politics as a Profession and Vocation. The author opts for an ethical autonomy of politics and an ethos of the politician based on his or her responsibility for foreseeable results of their actions. In view of the adopted solutions, the author places himself within the tradition of political realism. Despite its apparent scientific impartiality, this tradition is founded on subjective assumptions regarding God and the nature of the world of values and is based on faulty anthropological premises.
