Synopsis

The chapter focuses on the segmentation of the labor market and the policy addressed to it. Most often, research focuses on the causes of labor market segmentation, ignoring public policy addressed to this problem. The research results show that it is impossible to take actions to reduce the negative effects of labor market segmentation in isolation from the institutional context and the external economic situation. The policy aimed at eliminating employment segmentation oscillates around the use of three basic instruments, i.e., regulation, financing and strategic planning. Even though the authorities have introduced many programs and regulations over the years, many people still struggle with the effects of dual employment.
