Synopsis
MROZOWSKA AND ITALIAN THEATRE
The article is an attempt to describe the Italian performances of the actress and traveler Jadwiga Mrozowska-Toeplitz. They took place in 1910 and 1912. The artist tried her hand at both opera and drama. Performances were held in various Italian cities. Due to limited access to archival materials, this sketch will describe Mrozowska’s performances in the operas Pagliacci and Faust, as well as the drama The Woman and the Clown performed by the Teatro Argentina troupe. Mrozowska’s theatrical attempts were not successful for her, but they did not change her decision to stay permanently in Italy.
