Streszczenie

(SENSUAL) KRAKOW IN THE LITERATURE OF THE ENLIGHTENMENT. INTRODUCTION

The author focuses on the literary vision of Krakow, which is present in the literature of the Polish Enlightenment. The aim of the work is indicating selected works and discussing the subjects related to Krakow as a place of national remembrance, a symbol of patriotism and Polish religiosity, raised by writers of the era. The analysis concerns the ways of reflecting the city as a social, urban and architectural space (combined with elements of nature – the Vistula or the Tatra Mountains). The author’s research interest focuses on image profiling, which was obtained referring to sensory qualities (sight and hearing), in which way the portrait of the city and its inhabitants was most often created in the discussed period.
