THE SPIRIT IS FREEDOM, AND THIS WHAT IS ROMANTIC. A REFLECTION ON THE CULTURE OF THE 19TH CENTURY

Any attempt to approach an interpretation of cultural emanations during XIX century, must take into account the fact highlighted by Giorgio Agamben: historical time Chronos with an objective event structure and its reflection Tempus – consciousness of the flow of objective time, constitute this foundation of each here and now, they are an inseparable part of our consciousness, whose presence (in the double sense of the word) is situated in the past. In the language of existentialists, whose doctrinal sources date back to the nineteenth century, we exist not only in this space, experiencing its meaning and content and in this way highlighting our participation in it, but in a world of three-dimensional temporality. These words firmly refer to our relationship with the nineteenth century. An adhesive of this relationship is the idea of freedom, which we recall by referring to the Italian Hegelian, to somehow get closer to this phenomenon of the nineteenth century. This article, which is an introduction to the first part of our impressions and considerations which try to capture the phenomenon of the nineteenth century, is an attempt to grasp the cultural phenomena appearing in its first fifty years. Along with my second article, it covers the whole of my thoughts on the period under consideration.
