TEXTOLOGICAL VARIANTS IN INTRODUCTIONS TO THE GOSPELS BY THEOPHYLACT, ARCHBISHOP OF BULGARIA, AS A BASIS FOR IDENTIFICATION OF THE VILNIUS TETRAGOSPEL 1644 PROTOTYPE

Cyrillic early printed tetragospels were issued in Vilnius four times. For the last time they were released in 1644 at the „Descent of the Holy Spirit” printing house of the Vilnius Brotherhood. This last edition differs from three previous Vilnius Gospels in many aspects, i.e. textology, liturgy, etc., and is considered very similar to Lvov tetragospels, especially to the first one published in 1636. In the submitted publication textological variants of four introductions to the Gospels by Theophylact, Archbishop of Bulgaria, have been presented and this material confirms previous assumptions and proves that the last Vilnius tetragos-pel released in 1644 was reprinted from the first Lviv edition published in 1636.
