THE WAYS OF ANALYZING INTONATION IN TEACHING POLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE (AT THE EXAMPLE OF SPEECH SAMPLES RECORDED BY STUDENTS WITH RUSSIAN L1)
In teaching Polish as a Foreign Language, little attention is still paid to the problem of training intonation. More focus is placed on segmental phonetics, although learning word and phrase-level prosody in Polish requires quite a long training. The aims of this paper are (1) confronting Western European, American and Russian ideas of teaching suprasegmental units with the existing Polish literature and teaching aids concerning this subject, and (2) presenting the results of a preliminary analysis of Polish intonation patterns in interroga-tive sentences observed in foreign students.
