SPATIAL PERCEPTION OF TIME IN THE CIRCLE OF BYZANTINE CULTURE

The concept of time and space was known to the Greek ancient culture. However, the category of space was the foundation for ontological and metaphysical considerations. Time was perceived as an element of space. Space imposed thinking devoted to eternity and immutability. This dependence was continued in the Byzantine Christian culture. It influenced the way of understanding of history eschatology, man, state and culture itself. The domination of space over time took hold in Byzantine derived cultures. It is one of basic differences between Latin and Orthodox culture.
