LENORA’S PROPHETIC DREAM IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF POLISH AND RUSSIAN POETS
OF ROMANTICISM

The article is devoted to the adaptation of the German ballad written by: Gottfried August Bürger „Lenora”. The main character is a girl who suffers after the death of her beloved. One night, her beloved comes for her and takes her to the cemetery, where his corpse rests. The research on the text was carried out based on the works of Antoni Odyniec, Wasilij Żukowski and Pawel Katienin. The text shows different ways of presenting the “queen of ballad” style and various translation strategies applied by Polish and Russian poets.
